چکیده

Main results Analysis was by intention to treat. Both warfarin groups had lower rates for the main composite measure, nonfatal reinfarction, and thromboembolic stroke than the aspirin alone group (table); the 2 warfarin groups did not differ for these outcomes. The 3 groups did not differ for overall mortality. Both warfarin groups had higher rates for nonfatal major bleeding episodes than the aspirin alone group (table); the 2 warfarin groups did not differ for this outcome.

Aspirin, warfarin, or the combination for secondary prevention of coronary events in patients with acute coronary syndromes and prior coronary artery bypass surgery.

BACKGROUND Patients with a non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome and prior CABG are at high risk of a recurrent ischemic event despite aspirin therapy. This trial investigated the potential benefit of secondary prevention with warfarin. METHODS AND RESULTS In a double-blind randomized trial, 135 patients with unstable angina or non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, with prior CAB...

Bleeding complications associated with combinations of aspirin, thienopyridine derivatives, and warfarin in elderly patients following acute myocardial infarction.

BACKGROUND Combinations of aspirin with thienopyridine derivatives (clopidogrel bisulfate or ticlopidine hydrochloride) and/or warfarin sodium are increasingly being used in various cardiac conditions. However, little is known about the bleeding risks associated with these combinations, particularly in elderly individuals at the population level. This study estimates the bleeding risks associat...

Does the combination of warfarin and aspirin have a place in secondary stroke prevention? No.

The role of combination therapy, whether antiplatelet or antithrombotic, in secondary stroke prevention is controversial. The only widely accepted combination therapy is clopidogrel plus aspirin in patients with coronary, carotid, or intracranial artery stents. The duration of combination antiplatelet therapy in stent patients is, however, controversial, with a minimum of 3 months used in most ...

The perils of combination antithrombotic therapy and potential resolutions.

The use of antithrombotic medications is a mainstay in the treatment of patients with a variety of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disorders. Oral anticoagulation therapy dramatically reduces stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF); aspirin and clopidogrel reduce subsequent ischemic events in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and ischemic stroke; and the combination o...

Effet of low-dose Aspirin on mortality of Acute myocardial Infarction

SUMMARY Between Aug. 1982 and March 1984, In a prospective, randomized trial approximately 24 hours after the onset of acute myocardial, infarction (MI), the influence of Low dose aspirin (120-150 mg/day, just during inhospital phase), on inhospital and post- hospital mortality rate was studied in 62 patients, and compared with control group. The two groups were comparable with regard to age,...
